How to Make Paneer (Homemade Paneer)

Paneer is an Indian cheese which is used in many recipes for appetizers, main courses and desserts. It does not melt when heated. I hardly buy paneer from outside. At home everybody likes paneer and so i prepare to make paneer at home. Paneer is very easy to make at home.

Lets start to prepare Paneer

Ingredients:-

Milk - 8 cups
Lemon juice - 2 tsp

In medium pot, bring milk to boil

Home Made Paneer

Add lemon juice to milk while continuously stirring. Continue heating until milk  completely curdles and you could see the whey water getting separated completely . Switch off the stove.

Now take a cheese cloth or thin dupata. Place the cloth over a metal strainer and a bowl below. Pour the milk solid and whey into the colander.

Squeeze the excess water and hang it above the sink tap.

Let the excess water drip completely, place it on  a flat platform and keep a flat weight on it.

Wait for 3 hrs or more to set it and then cut into stripes using knife. Then cut into  small cubes and store the fridge.

Note:-

You can also use curd or vineger instead of lemon juice

You can add 1/2 tsp of corn flour or all purpose(maida) in milk. This is used as binding agent and also prevent the paneer from crumbling.

A way to keep the paneer soft, to immerse in warm water after you have remove it from the fridge
