Appam

Appam



Ingredients:

Raw Rice - 1 cup

Boiled Rice - 1/2 cup
Urad Dhal - 1/4 cup
Fenugreek seed- 1tsp
Grated Coconut - 2tbl. sp
Old Cooked Rice - 1/4 cup
Baking Soda - 1 or 2 pinch


Mothed:


Wash and soak raw rice and boiled rice in water for 7 to 8 hrs.


In a separate bowl wash and soak urad dhal and fenugreek seed in water for 7 to 8 hrs.


First grind urad dhal in wed grinder. Add enough water due to grinding to a fine past. After in which  add soaked rice, grated coconut, old cooked rice. By adding little water grind to make a smooth past. Do not add to much water. 


Transfer this to a big vessel. Close and keep aside to ferment for 7 to 8 hrs.


In morning add  baking soda and salt. Mix well


Heat appachatti/non stick pan. Pour the one ladle of batter, lift the pan from the stove and slightly twist around to spread the batter in a pan to make a circular shape. close the lid and cook to slow flame until the edges turning golden brown.


 serve hot with coconut milk or vegetable kurma or chutny
